Am going to have to stop going with slowpoke friend.  I left her behind for some of workout, but felt bad about it.  Plus slowpoking around in the gym, chatting with people…  argh.

Ran up about 1/4 of the sets.  Quads sore the next day!

Workout with a friend who was going too slow for me. Very frustrating!

Core work afterwards was surprisingly hard. I need to make room for more core work in my life.

Short stadium workout

After the debauchery of the 4th of July weekend travel to Madison (beer, bratwurst, not enough sleep, airplanes, etc)…  of course I came down with a head cold.  Thankfully it was a really short one.  I wanted to get back and do a short workout since I was feeling 95% better.  Some lingering sinus pressure kept me from pushing it.

Stairs in SM: 5 times

I am beginning to think I really like the stadiums on campus better… its a much more consistent workout because the stairs are shorter and closer together. And they’re not as steep so taking 2 at a time is a bit less crazy.

great HIT run!

Ran on the treadmill today after a frustrating day of data crunching… after a warmup I felt great and decided to do some high intensity intervals to find my sub-max heart rate.  As I suspected, it looks like max is around 210…  80% of which isn’t even on the chart!

5 min warmup walking

15 mins running @ 5.8

5 mins at 6.0 felt kind of relaxed

90 seconds at 6.6

90 seconds at 5.8

90 seconds at 6.8

90 seconds at 5.8

90 seconds at 7.0

2 min at 5.8

2 min at 7.2 (this may be a record for me): maximum heart rate 198 bpm

The rest at a relaxed pace winding down to a walk.  Felt fantastic after.  Nice!

30 minutes in a friend showed up.  I took it down a notch and kept going for another set of the stadium.  Felt great!  Did 10 mins of core work beforehand as well.
